This MoU marks a strategic convergence designed to align efforts in port protection in accordance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code). Both organizations will share common objectives and establish cooperation mechanisms to strengthen the implementation of international port security standards through operational and administrative controls that safeguard the integrity of the international supply chain.

Moreover, the alliance envisions the future integration of additional initiatives, such as the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program of Guatemala’s Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT), with the goal of building a comprehensive coalition between the three systems—ISPS, AEO, and BASC—to foster more secure, efficient, and competitive ports in the country.
